Finding the dress is the big battle, but let’s not forget about suits and tuxes! Selecting the right suit sets the tone for your entire wedding day look — and with trends shifting each season, it pays to plan ahead. We caught up with Dan Assal of Dan Dan the Tailor Man to talk timelines, trending colors, and expert tips for helping every groom look his best.

What is the most popular type of suit or tux that is used for weddings – also what tie or bow tie color is selected the most?

Black takes the crown as the go-to suit color, with a slick, sophisticated vibe, while the runner-up is a stylish lighter blue, often rocking that classic American blue flair. When it comes to tuxedos, black steals the spotlight as the crowd favorite. Now, when it comes to ties, things get interesting – tie colors dance around, playing off the bridesmaids’ dresses, creating a vibrant and varied palette. There’s a whole world of options to suit every style and color scheme!

How many months before the wedding should I make an appointment to select suits? And when should I have everyone provide their measurements and payments?

Six months before the big day is the sweet spot for your initial appointment, where we dive into the details – sizing, colors, fits, and rounding up your party crew with all their contact details. We’ll sort payment details out at that first appointment, and from there, our team takes the reins. We make sure everyone in your squad is on the radar and squared away. Our aim is to have everyone’s suits (barring any out-of-town exceptions) and alterations wrapped up a month before the wedding.

What is typically included when purchasing a suit and what will I need to additionally purchase?

We’ve got you covered from head to toe — suit, tie, handkerchief, alterations, and even the button-up shirt. The only extras you need to snag elsewhere are the socks and shoes.

What fabric and suit color trends are you seeing for 2024/2025 weddings?

Emerging trends in wedding fashion are showcasing bold choices, with hues like hunter green and rustic orange stealing the spotlight. Texture is having its moment too, with velvet making a strong and stylish comeback. Grooms are embracing a personalized and distinctive aesthetic, aiming to stand out on their special day.
