In Kansas City, we have a long history of philanthropy and volunteerism, which has become a special tradition that is passed down from generation to generation. Deciding to do good together is one of the most powerful ways to begin your marriage. And it’s a way that you can stay connected to the community, illustrate the spirit of giving to your children, and create a lasting legacy of generosity. This article can help you in hosting a charitable wedding in Kansas City.

Did you know that people who volunteer or are involved with charities are proven to be happier? It makes practical sense then, that volunteering as a couple would promote the same effect within your marriage. As an individual, volunteering reduces stress, provides a sense of accomplishment, and allows you to see the world outside of yourself. Beyond that, volunteering and giving back can be game-changing for your relationship. Not only are you helping your community, but you are spending quality time together and building memories to last through your long and happy marriage. The focus on others instead of yourselves provides a healthy foundation for a strong future.

With your wedding approaching and your marriage about to begin, there are different ways you can decide to be charitable. The obvious place to start is to simply become a volunteer. Set your busy life aside and forget work and your to-do list for a moment and be present to help others. Volunteering means different things for different charities, so find one that is easy for you both to work into your schedule so that you can provide on-going help without getting burnt out. If time is too limited right now, you can support the good works of a charity by donating towards their cause. Instead of setting up a wedding registry for household items, ask your guests to donate to a charity as their “wedding gift” to you. If they are local to Kansas City, this is a great way to create awareness of your chosen charity to others. Let’s look at some great causes that you can pick from to start hosting a charitable wedding.

There are so many worthy causes in our city, here are some of our favorites:

At Chappelow Events, we firmly believe that giving back is the best way to start your marriage off on the right foot. That’s why we’ve created a party with a purpose specifically for Kansas City couples who are interested in giving back to their community. Introducing, “Popped”.

Popped is unlike any other event in Kansas City and is comprised of two complimentary components.

THE CAUSES

Each year, Popped features a different worthwhile cause. The faces behind the cause come to the event to share the story about why they started, the focus behind their work, and how they impact the community. Attendees are able to get a glimpse into the work going on within the community around them and a portion of each ticket sold to the event is donated to the charity to help fund their good works. A great gateway event to hosting a charitable wedding.

THE DESIGNS

Also in attendance at the event are the best wedding designers in Kansas City. Exclusively handpicked for their trendsetting design eye, the featured designers show off their wildest wedding designs to inspire and delight, creating one-of-a-kind dining environments for guests to enjoy while they sip, socialize, and celebrate the night away.

THE PARTY

The 4th annual Popped party was on Friday, February 25, 2022 at The Grand Hall in the Power & Light District. As always, a portion of ticket sales goes towards supporting these local charities. Early bird tickets will go on sale in the fall, so be sure to sign up at poppedpartykc.com to be the first in line when tickets are released.
