One doesn’t need to be in Napa to have a winery wedding, in fact, we found the most ethereal spot to have a winery wedding in Kansas City, and it just so happens to be at KC Wine Co. in Olathe, Kansas.
There was no better color to focus this shoot around other than “wine red”, so from the invitations to the flowers, to the lipstick shade, everything was inspired by the wine itself.
While the grounds of the winery were certainly beautiful all on their own (just look at that evening sun!), we wanted to bring in a few unique and creative elements into this shoot. The first was small, a floral pocket boutonniere. Marrying the lapel boutonniere with the pocket square, the floral pocket boutonniere is a fun alternative to the long-standing tradition. The second element we brought in was a black cake. Yes, black… as in the blackest of black. The white wedding cake has been a favorite for countless years, so going to the opposite color spectrum was a fun adventure. With added floral in the fall and wine tones, the cake ended up being a striking beauty.
And after a full day of set up and shooting, we all enjoyed the most delicious wine slushy (can you blame us?)!
