In 1912, a timeless building was constructed in the heart of Kansas City, complete with coffered ceilings, penny tiles, and intricate detailing. In 2019, the cherished building underwent a top to bottom renovation, marrying modern design with historical character to bring you, The Gatsby on Oak.
Imagine an old steel vault repurposed into the perfect photo booth. Picture more than 4300 crystals twinkling in all the chandeliers. Or a bar of grandiose proportions and glass shelves galore. Imagine bathrooms big enough that no one waits in line. A groom’s room with a mini bar and gaming station. Or a bridal suite adorned in pillows so plush and chairs of blush. It’s all in the essence of Gatsby.
Kary Arthur is a former caterer turned GM and venue visionary after helping her son on his search for the perfect place to wed. After scouring the city, they found a lot of things they liked, and a lot of things they didn’t.
“It seems like every place we saw had at least one element that fell through the cracks. Whether it be having only one bathroom for the entire event, or no room for the groups to get ready, I wanted to design a space with everything in mind,” says Arthur.
And that’s precisely what she did. They thought through every detail, while preserving all the unique characteristics of the original space to create the perfect hybrid of modern mixed with traditional.
The Gatsby is the perfect place to celebrate your love with up to 213 of your nearest and dearest (or 108 at 50% Covid capacity.) The location is prime, with easy access to the River Market or the Crossroads, and ample hotels surround the space. Parking is abundant and nearby, and best yet, there is a park directly across the street. This means that you have options for your ceremony, and the park provides a veil of privacy, making your event feel that much more private and intimate.

If that wasn’t enough, one of their main missions is to minimize the stress each couple encounters. They do this through offering rentals. This means they’ll manage the ordering of the items for you, receive them for the wedding, and then return them when the day is done. That makes for 147 less forks and 32 less vases to count out after you’ve danced the night away.
